On the boat sit two tourists who are throwing garbage into the river without extra trouble while enjoying sightseeing, pleasurably.It is strange that the boatman seems to see nothing but continues paddling ahead. Not far away from them is the waste that tourists littered casually—food wrappers, fish bones and watermelon peels.
This cartoon is a criticism of some people's uncivilized behaviors which damage the scenic spots. The past 25 years witnessed all the great changes that have taken place in China, with tourism and other spiritual enjoyment being the most far-reaching one. However,tourism,unfortunately,broadens our eves,but fails to make us more civilized.The
coarse manner—littering, spitting and carving on some historical sites—can be easily found everywhere. With the booming economy enabling an increasing number of people to travel around,uncivilized behaviors derived from this
have contributed to the seriousness of environmental pollution.
Therefore, to return a clean and pleasant tourist environment and remold China's image as a nation,corresponding measures should be taken to curb the disgraceful behaviors of those rude and boorish tourists. At the mention of suggestions and measures, it occurs to many that strong punitive actions, like laws and regulations,should be issued. Actually, the fundamental approach is to launch an extensive education on social morality,making people truly aware of the importance of environmental protection, thus abandoning uncivilized behaviors initiatively.
